How to Stay in Perfect Peace {Day 9}

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal (Isaiah 26:3-4)

If you were to ask me what verse I like best in all of Scripture, my favorite thing to bank on, the truth by which I’ve lived my life by since the day I found it, this would be it. Because there is a way to have steadfast. There is a way to live in the steady, secure, kept in perfect peace. And here it is: trust in the God Whose name is so sovereign and holy the Israelites couldn’t even say it aloud. Yahweh. Trust Who He is. Trust what He does. Trust in the God called the Rock eternal.

It’s my go-to truth from Scripture. Embedded in my soul, not because I made myself memorize it but because I have come back to it so many times that its words are simply etched in the lining of my heart. I can stay in perfect peace when my mind trusts so firmly in Almighty God that no circumstance or single piece of information can shake that faith.

So when my husband is late coming home from work and I hear those scary (but ever so cool) German sirens, there is not one little catch in my spirit. And when I realize I’m on the wrong bus (again) and going the wrong way, I can have no fear. When that troubled boy approaches me on the bus and says stuff I can’t even begin to understand, my heart doesn’t have to race because I can know that God is big enough and is not surprised by this encounter. I can believe that God the LORD has a perfect plan for even this, and His hand will hold me no matter what this leads to. I can live steadfast, mind steady and unwavering, because I trust Him Who is the forever Rock. He takes care of the part I would otherwise have to worry about.

Do you have a go-to truth from Scripture? I would love to hear about it in the comments. Just click the little bubble thingy up by the title and tell us all about it.

*This month, I’m joining a bunch of other bloggers in a challenge to write for 31 days on a topic about change. Having struggled with fear (sometimes paralyzing) for a lot of my life and missing much of the living that I know God wants for me, I am on a mission to live unafraid for 31 days straight. And challenging you to join me. And I’m writing about it. You can catch up here if you’ve missed any of the days. Bring a friend, too. It’ll make it more fun. Oh, and here’s a button for you to grab if you have a blog and would like to share the unafraid life (which, btw, I would love).

2 Thoughts on “How to Stay in Perfect Peace {Day 9}

  1. Not surprising to me, my sister- my life verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58~ “Therefore, my beloved, be STEADFAST, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
    Love you!

    • Becky, that is awesome! I never knew the word “steadfast” was in I Corinthians. 🙂 Thank you! I love that steadfast means unmovable. And that without it we’d be useless in the work of the Lord because we’d get so distracted by lies and other junk.

What do you say?
