31 Days of Life Unafraid
I used to be afraid of stuff. I mean really afraid. And lots of things. Like spiders. And crashing into someone everytime I had to switch lanes on the freeway. And barf. Truth be told, I still struggle with fear sometimes. Even now, right in the middle of this year of unafraid. Ten months ago, I chose a word to focus on with intentional purpose for the year of 2012. The word was unafraid. Turns out, it was a good choice. Because now, ten months later, I find myself in a spot where, if I don’t live unafraid, I miss out on stuff that makes this living in Germany thing the adventure of my lifetime. And I don’t want to miss it.

The truth is, I don’t want to miss any adventure that lay ahead. Whether it be in the beautiful land of Deutsch or the farmland of Ohio. And if I let myself fear, then I will for sure miss something of the living that God wants me to do.
So, once again, I choose unafraid. I declare it again. I will live unafraid. Because, based on the truth of Sovereign God’s crazy love for me, I have nothing to be afraid of. Not unknowns. Not talking to Germans on the phone. Not getting lost in a foreign city. Not watching my kids fall off their bikes. Not missing the bus on the way to school. Not even snakes. (Okay, that one I’m not so sure about.) I declare it loud that I will not fear.
This month of October is a month of 31 days during which some of the blogs that I follow, host a challenge. It’s a challenge to write about one thing for 31 days in a row. That would be scary for me, but remember, I’m not afraid. So I’m taking it on. I think it’s something that many of us struggle with on different levels: letting some kind of fear or worry keep us from the real life that Jesus came to give. And so, today begins
31 Days of Life Unafraid.
I made a button for it and everything. So you can follow along. And if you have a blog, you can put the button there and tell other people about it. It’s at the bottom of this post. All you have to do is copy the code underneath the little picture that says “31 Days Life Unafraid” and then post it on the side of your blog or whatever. If you don’t have a blog but you want to tell other people about the 31 days here, oh how I would love that! And be sure to check out some of the other 31 Days writers over at The Nester (just click those words). There are some amazing writers there. And some really good ideas.
