The One Kind of Fear We Absolutely Need {Day 14}
He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure. (Isaiah 33:6)
So we’re living unafraid these 31 days of October. Because it’s the only way to live, really. And we’re discussing fear and the paralyzing that it can bring, with its lies and what-ifs. We’re talking about real life, the kind God designed for us, and the freedom and peace that comes when we believe that God alone is enough. That He is completely worthy of all our trust. But there is a kind of fear that, quite frankly, I am afraid to lose. The only kind of fear by which we may truly live.
It is the fear of God Himself. God says it straight up all throughout Scripture. And He says it a lot right after He says, Do not be afraid. So this week, we’ll look at what it means. And why, out of all the do not be afraid’s, He commands this one kind of fear, and He calls it the way to live.
What do you think about the fear of God? What does it mean? Let’s chat about it here in the comments today. Or email me by clicking the tab at the top that says, “Let me know you were here.” Then come back tomorrow, and we’ll talk more.
See you then.
*This month, I’m joining a bunch of other bloggers in a challenge to write for 31 days on a topic about change. Having struggled with fear (sometimes paralyzing) for a lot of my life and missing much of the living that I know God wants for me, I am on a mission to live unafraid for 31 days straight. And challenging you to join me. And I’m writing about it. You can catch up here if you’ve missed any of the days. Bring a friend, too. It’ll make it more fun. Oh, and here’s a button for you to grab if you have a blog and would like to share the unafraid life (which, btw, I would love).
